Guess who has a new favorite movie!!!!! And it's been the only thing I've been thinking about since the 2nd time seeing it at the IMAX. Most of my friends know that I get really into the stuff that I like...but I don't really get overly-nerdy about it. Like I don't care to know everythingg about everythinggg like what number was what episode and what exact date it came out or I don't do cosplay or stuff like that. That's fine for some people, but I just likes what I likes lol.
So, Anyway, this journal is going to be about......
BATMANNNN!!!!!!! YAY!
Some of this has been copied and pasted from other comments I have made, because I don't like to repeat myself but I still wanna say the same thing lol.
DARK KNIGHT: GREAT MOVIE...OR GREATEST MOVIE? PART 1I added a new folder in my favorites for Joker fan-art. I'm not usually into fan-art but I just had to lol. I do adore a man with a sense of humor
I've always loved Batman since I was little. I can remember back to kindergarten when my favorite show was the Adam West TV series...the first film I got to see in the theater was Tim Burton's "Batman", and growing up I really enjoyed Batman: the Animated Series. The Joker on that show is probably my second favorite Joker of all time. (I don't like that new version of the cartoon, though...it reminds me too much of anime, and I just personally don't really like that style.)
I think that the Joker is the single greatest villain of all time (with the exception of the 1966 series, because I think that the Penguin was much cooler than the Joker on that show...they didn't really utilize the Joker right on that show. Frank Gorshin's Riddler was more like the Joker should have been personality-wise, in my opinion.) I always liked Jack Nicholson as the Joker...hell, the man is crazy in real-life too lol. I had my doubts when I heard that Heath Ledger was playing the character. I initially thought that Warner Brothers was just casting a pretty-boy in a leading roll to get girls to see the picture. I was still excited to see it, though. However, not too long into the duration of the film, I realized that Heath Ledger had made me eat my words, regurgitate them, and then eat them again. Caesar Romero = eh; Jack Nicholson = Good; Heath Ledger = Pants-crapping AWESOME. (God I wish he didn't have to die. Poor kid.) If that movie doesn't win a ton of Oscars I'm gonna be irritated lol.
I have included some Harley Quinn fan art that I like there too. I loves Harley Quinn. I'm actually happy she wasn't in the movie. She and the Joker have their own awesome story and it would clash with the awesome story of Dark Knight.
Poor Harley has a toxic relationship with the Joker. But who can blame her...who doesn't secretly wanna schtook the Joker? lol
I can't wait until Dark Knight comes out on video. I have a lot of editing ideas for youtube tributes lol.
PART 2</b>
I'm a classic movie fan and just for fun I also came up with a "wish list" of classic movie actors who could have played the Batman villains when the comic series first came out circa 1940 (and if studios at that time would have not only made a superhero movie, but a dark, good-quality one as well). BTW, not all these characters came out at that time. Just go with it lol.
Joker - James Cagney.
www.imdb.com/name/nm0000010/ Rationale: If Jimmy Cagney was actually allowed to let go and play really dark, he could definately do it. He could play as dark and sinister as anybody. He was one of those exceptionally talented actors, and he already had a great bad-guy persona (although he also did comedies, peeps lol). And most of all...have you ever heard Jimmy Cagney laugh? Case closed. lol
Penguin - Edward G. Robinson.
www.imdb.com/name/nm0000064/ Rationale: He was a very powerful screen presence, and he could probably bring something truly menacing to the character. However, as the Penguin is more of a "gentleman" character, I was not 100% sure on this choice. Edward G. Robinson's characters always seemed like his background was just a punk kid growing up on the streets and so he became a gangster. But I am confident that Eddie G. COULD have played a classy manipulator. Plus, he already had that "meh meh meh" thing going on for him lol.
Catwoman - Lauren Bacall
www.imdb.com/name/nm0000002/ Rationale: Okay, so we would probably have to time-travel her a little so that she would be old enough to play Catwoman in 1940. I like Lauren Bacall for this roll because she was always so dark and intelligent. You know that she could probably kick ass lol. She's also well-known for her noir films, and I just think she would do a good job. Of course she would be sans-karate though lol.
Riddler - Robert Walker
www.robertwalkertribute.com/Im… Rationale: You may know Robert Walker from Alfred Hitchcock's "Stranger on a Train." I'm taking the Riddler into a different direction here. I think that the traditional Riddler is much too much like the Joker. So instead of playing him goofy, I have chosen an actor who can bring menace with class to the roll of the Riddler. I see him more as a sinister madman who would just enjoy screwing with Batman's head. If you've ever seen Strangers On A Train, you could see how Robert Walker could accomplish that. Every one who has ever played the Riddler has over-played it. I believe that Robert Walker would have under-played him to make him really, truly creepy. And I think that would be just great lol.
Poison Ivy - Rita Hayworth
www.imdb.com/name/nm0000028/ Rationale: Uber-talented, and prepackaged redhead. Rita Hayworth looked like Poison Ivy should look like. I also think should could have played the part very well. Nothing more to say than that lol.
Harley Quinn - [a young] Judy Holliday
cache.eb.com/eb/image?id=24397… Rationale: She's cute, she's blonde, and have you ever heard her talk? She
sounds like Harley Quinn! lol. She has also been known as playing the gangster's girlfriend, who is abused but still stays with her man. Sound familiar? My estimation is that she could have played Harley Quinn dead-on. (PS. I wouldn't be surprised if Harley Quinn the character was slightly based on Judy Holliday)
if anybody has anything to add...let me know! This is fun to me lol.
PART 3 WARNING: SOME SPOILERSSooooooooo....speaking of who's playing who....there's been a lot of rumors about who is going around about which villain is going to be in the next Batman movie. My boyfriend and his brother told me they heard that the Riddler was supposedly rumored to be the next villain. They say that the logic behind it was that there was a character in the Dark Knight named "Mr. Reese". "Mysteries", get it. Ha ha
. . . that sounds like some "DaVinci Code-style B.S. right there lol. The Riddler had a name and it wasn't Mr. Reese. It was Edward Nygma. And before it was Edward Nygma it was Edward Nashton. So there. Anyway, I hope they don't put in the Riddler just yet because he's too similar to the Joker traditionally. The way I see it, they opened it up for two possibly main villains (probably not at the same time, however): the Penguin and Catwoman. With Bruce Wayne's hunny Rachael Dawes now deceased, he is now left emotionally vulnerable, a purrrrfect opportunity for the Catwoman (if Halle Berry didn't already kill the roll. But I guess if Chris Nolan can resurrected what George Clooney almost murdered...). I heard that it was rumored that Angelina Jolie might play the part of Selina Kyle. I call shenanigans! This is what I had to say about that:
That's probably a rumor. I highly doubt they would get Angelina Jolie to play the part. 99% of the actors in that film are indie actors, and most of them aren't even American. Like only the Rachael Daweses , Harvey Dent, and Lucius Fox are actually American. And no real big "Blockbuster" actors. Just the older guys Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, who have longgg careers as respectable actors and have now also taken to independent films. Even Heath Ledger was more of an indie-type actor. He was never really in anything quite as showy as Angelina Jolie. I wouldn't count anything in his career as a really, truly big film, especially when he was the # 1 star of it and it was his name drawing people in (instead of, say, Mel Gibson or something). Even Brokeback Mountain was an indie that made it big just because of the quality of the film. I think they will find another actress that a lot of people probably have never heard of that will be perfect for the role. As Spock would say, "the idea of Angelina Jolie playing Catwoman is highly illogical." Because those films should come with a sticker that says "made with love...it's the secret ingredient" lol
The Penguin scenario. I also believe the Dark Knight left an opportunity open for the Penguin. With this one, I imagine an actual scenario. With D.A. Harvey Dent now dead, Oswald Cobblepot, a well-to-do gentleman who unbeknown to any other characters has been affected by Scarecrow's serum (or Scarecrow could even be behind this maybe) and hallucinates and sees imaginary Penguins pecking at his brain, runs for public office of the D.A. of Gotham to claim entire control of the city, and at the same time hires Dead Shot to try and stop Batman from getting in his way. Because now, with Batman's public image as a sort of villain, somebody is going to step up as D.A. claiming they are going to avenge the death of Harvey Dent, when really they want to manipulate the whole city. There is only one character this scenario is perfect for...and that is the Penguin. I know that was a tiny bit like "Batman Returns" but that scenario (Penguin running for public office) is just so perfect for him. That's just the sort of thing that he would do. I'm also thinking about episodes of the original Batman series, for instance when the Penguin told everybody their money was diseased to throw their money into the streets...and he could've gotten away with that too lol. I think that kind of scenario from Batman Returns can be tweaked and manipulated to fit our cause. He is also a perfect candidate for somebody who can be used by or affected by the Scarecrow.
Tell me what you think about it.
Of course nothing in this world can ever beat our dear Joker...
PART 4: Super-happy fun time. </u>
Here are some fun You-Tube links that are related to Dark Knight. I had my boyfriend and his brother watch them and rate them from least favorite to most favorite...I put them in that order here because it's just more fun to watch in that order lol. Tell me what you think lol.
